The one thing to get right: Spektrum surface gear runs DSMR. Air gear runs DSMX. They are not cross-compatible — a DSMX plane receiver will not bind to a DSMR wheel radio. Everything on this page is surface.

Where to start: the SLT3 and DX3 are honest entry radios that do everything a basher needs. DXC+ is the sweet spot for most people. DX Rugged+ is the one to buy if it's going to get wet and dropped. DX Pro+ is full-feature for racers.

AVC receivers (like the SR6200A) add active stability control — genuinely worth it on high-power rigs that want to swap ends on throttle.
